Dr. Sanjay Behari
President CVSI

PRESIDENT MESSAGE

It is both an honor and a privilege to serve as the President of the Cerebrovascular Society of India (CVSI). I am deeply grateful for the confidence reposed in me and am committed to contributing to the continued growth and success of this esteemed organization.
CVSI is dedicated to enhancing the understanding, prevention, and management of cerebrovascular diseases. As one of the most complex and evolving domains within neurosurgery, cerebrovascular surgery demands constant innovation and excellence. Our society remains focused on advancing research, refining clinical practices, and promoting education, while encouraging collaboration and the sharing of knowledge among professionals.
The society serves as a dynamic academic forum, bringing together neurologists, neurosurgeons, physicians, interventional experts, researchers, and allied healthcare professionals. Through conferences, workshops, CMEs, and structured training programs, we aim to keep our members informed about the latest developments in prevention, acute care, rehabilitation, endovascular therapies, microsurgical techniques, and scientific research.
In the current era, the importance of hybrid or dual-trained cerebrovascular neurosurgeons — proficient in both open microsurgical as well as endovascular techniques — cannot be overstated. For a country like India, such comprehensive training is truly the need of the hour. Dual-trained neurosurgeons are uniquely positioned to make rational, balanced, and unbiased treatment decisions tailored to individual patient needs. Equally important, neurosurgeons possess the expertise and surgical judgment required to effectively manage complications that may arise during diagnostic or therapeutic neurovascular procedures. Encouraging this integrated training pathway will significantly strengthen cerebrovascular care delivery and improve patient outcomes across the country.
At the same time, India is witnessing a remarkable phase of indigenous innovation and applied biomedical engineering in healthcare. Institutions such as Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology have demonstrated how in-house development of technologies, devices, and advanced treatment solutions can transform patient care while substantially reducing treatment costs. The development of affordable indigenous neurovascular devices, implants, stents, and innovative treatment technologies represents a major step towards self-reliance in complex cerebrovascular care. Such initiatives not only make advanced treatment more accessible and economical for patients, but also strengthen India’s scientific and technological capabilities in the long term.
As a nation, we must continue to encourage meaningful collaboration between clinicians, scientists, engineers, researchers, and industry partners. Greater support for innovation, translational research, and government-backed research funding will be essential in developing cost-effective, world-class technologies that can address the unique healthcare needs of our population. The future of cerebrovascular care in India will depend not only on clinical excellence, but also on our ability to innovate, indigenize, and lead in biomedical advancement.
We place strong emphasis on supporting young and emerging professionals by providing opportunities for involvement in academic initiatives, research activities, and leadership roles. By empowering the next generation, we seek to ensure a robust and progressive future for cerebrovascular care in India.
I encourage all members to take an active role in the society’s endeavors, share their expertise, and work together towards our common objective of elevating the standards of cerebrovascular healthcare across the nation.
I look forward to your ongoing support and active engagement in all CVSI initiatives.

With warm regards,
Dr. Sanjay Behari
President

SECRETARY MESSAGE

It is with immense pleasure that I extend my heartfelt appreciation in electing me as the secretary of the CVSI. As the Secretary, I am proud to be a part of this distinguished association, which strives to advance the understanding, prevention, and treatment of cerebrovascular diseases. Cerebrovascular surgery is the holy grail of neurosurgery and the society aims to promote the latest research, clinical practices, and education in the field of cerebrovascular medicine, fostering collaboration and knowledge exchange among medical professionals.
The society provides a vibrant academic platform for neurologists, neurosurgeons, physicians, interventional specialists, researchers, and allied healthcare professionals to exchange knowledge, share experiences, and engage in meaningful scientific dialogue. Our conferences, workshops, CMEs, and training programs are designed to keep members abreast of the latest advances in disease prevention, acute management, rehabilitation, and research.
CVSI is also committed to fostering young and early-career professionals by encouraging participation in academic activities, research initiatives, and leadership roles within the society. By nurturing the next generation of cerebrovascular surgery specialists, we aim to strengthen the future of cerebrovascular surgery in India. I encourage all members to actively engage with the society, contribute to its growth, and work collectively towards our shared goal of improving standards of cerebrovascular care in India.
